PC Solutions, computer assistance for real estate professionals, small businesses and individuals                                                   www.billpfaff.com Being in a hurry with e-mail can get you into trouble. Rushing through your inbox, making snap decisions to open an email, or its attachment can get you into trouble. You know better than to open the e-mails about all the Nigerian millions you can get. But when an e-mail says it from the administrator (or support section) of your own domain name, you may be tempted to hurry and open the attachment. If some glitch has made your site or e-mail unavailable, you’ll need to correct it immediately! Don’t believe it. And if you’re not sure, call your web hosting company or the company that manages your e-mail account. Doing otherwise makes you a perfect target for malware. With e-mail, you really can’t believe what you read Sample “helpful” infected e-mail “Subject: billpfaff.com account notification Dear Customer, This e-mail was send by admin@billpfaff.com to notify you that we have temporarily prevented access to your account. We have reasons to beleive that your account may have been accessed by someone else. Please open attached file (open.html) and Follow instructions.” Don’t open the attachment; the e-mail is not sent from admin@billpfaff.com, and the attachment contains a Trojan. And they can’t spell “believe” properly, either! Copyright 2011, Bill Pfaff’s PC Solutions. Copying or mirroring is prohibited.
